2006 CL55AMG ABC MESSAGE

after a very high speed run down the hardy toll road. ABC was on. as you should imagine, i drive this car very hard. exercising every aspect of its engine and suspension.

THERE WERE NO WARNING MESSAGES DURING THAT RUN.

my first stop was at barnes & noble at gray and shepherd. entering that handicapped parking space, i put the suspension into full lift so that i would not hit a parking bolster.

returning to the car, upon starting it, the dashboard delivered this message, in red. blocking all other messages.

ACTIVE BODY CONTROL

DRIVE CAREFULLY

the operator manual advised me thusly.....

the capability of the ABC system is restricted. this can impair handling.

the vehicle is losing oil

the SOLUTIONS were....

do not exceed a speed of 50mph

visit an authorized m-b center as soon as possible.

MY RESPONSE

i moved the car and inspected the asphalt underneath it for any evidence of oil leaks. I SAW NO EVIDENCE OF ANY LEAKAGE.

because it was 18:00hrs on a saturday, i decided to make the 55 mile drive back to its garage.

and that is where it is today.

i must confess, it was impossible to drive it up the hardy and i45 at 50. i tried to keep it under 70.

what i noticed was that the car drove as if there was no operating ABC. it did some serious bouncing over road irregularities.

HOW DO YOU THINK I SHOULD HANDLE THIS? should it be trailered back for inspection and servicing? is there an oil reservoir that can be inspected and oil added?

this car has approx 53,000 milies. has been immaculately maintained. it appears as if new.

thank you. all ears.
