W124 fantom cooling problems

So here's the deal, I might as well introduce myself in this post too. My name is Ben, I'm 18, and I have a black over grey with grey leather 1991 W124. 3 liter non-overdrive autotragic. I've been enjoying it since I've been driving it but the cooling system is less than stellar.

Brief history of the system during my ownership:

- bought needing a waterpump. Installed and works great, but kept overheating and leaking coolant
-found leak: heated washer fluid elements were cracked, leaking all coolant in to washer reservoir and out through the cracked bottle. Bypassed that and it worked like a charm.
Noticed the radiator was stopping the clutch fan from spinning, addressed that as well.

Now the car runs cool as a cucumber while driving, but slowly overheats in stand still situations, leading me to believe that the electric fan may be in-op. I've been in the fuse box and it makes contact with the fuse and the fan, but the fan doesn't always see to come on when the temp rises, shooting all of my coolant all over the floor during an overheat.

So I guess my real question is simple, could it be realistic that my electric fan is busted, and how difficult is it to replace it?

Thanks a lot guys! I've had wonderful experience on the Porsche side of this site,so I'm hoping for the same experience over here

My first test would be to bypass the electric fan sensor (in between fins of the radiator, mine has a yellow plastic housing). Just connect the two wires with the key switch on, and the fan should run. If it does, try replacing the sensor.

Ahh this sounds like a good plan of action, thank you!

Checked everything wiring related that I could get to and sorted a few things. Turns out after some research the car actually isn't running hot lol. Guess I'll put down a couple photos of my daily driver.

It's currently lowered on what is supposed to be Bilstein shocks and H&R springs, but they must be blown to bits since the car bounces all over the place over the smallest bumps. Looking to swap over to an adjustable setup, since BMW E36 coilovers are a direct swap to the w124.

Car runs alright, I feel it's time for plugs and wires and just a nice tune up in general. Transmission shifts well, not having overdrive is a bit rough on my daily commute but whatever.

My plans are ever growing with this car. Lower and wider explains most of them. An exhaust is in the near future since I just got a new inspection sticker good for 2 more years, we'll be losing some of those pesky emissions related things

Didn't realize that the photo still showed my old junk US headlights, it's got a fresh set of euro headlights installed now.

I made the mistake of buying off ebay. I had to do some wiring and the fit wasn't great but I ended up making them work nicely.
