Per posts #15 & #17, it is the number codes that are significant.

If the letter codes had position significance the exhaust cam would bear the letter R (Recht), as it is located on the right side of the engine, and yet, per the above, the cam marked R was found on the inlet side of the engine, which is the left side!!
