Service CD's for $20???!!!

There's a guy on Ebay selling a bunch of Service CD's for $20 a pop. Is this a smokin' deal or a huge problem? I tend to think there's gotta be something bad about this.

I have found the main file checks to see if you have the necessary plugins for the program. I bypassed mine with my own index file and copied the cd's onto the hard disk.

works great now.

It oo had issues with it reading the discs at first, and running them, until I bypassed the first page and loaded the one that starts the manual itself to choose the car.

Let me know if you want me to send you the file and instructions on how to copy ti to your hard disk and use it.

ok, this is what I did.

I created a folder on my hard disk. in that folder I have a folder called "disc 1" and a folder called "disc 2". I copied the contents into these folders of each disc.

I then put the index file in the main folder, so it has the index file, and the "disc 1" and "disc 2" folders in that folder.

Then I placed a shortcut to the index file to my hard disk.

I would suggest you do it like me, and copy the discs into seperate folders named disc 1 and disc 2. put these folders into another folder. extract the zip file to the folder, and run the index. if allis well, you should be able to click on disc 1 and disc 2 links on the index page I created. and it will load the appropriate disc program, bypassing the software checks and the intro movies.

if you are good with html, you can modify the file directory locations in the file, but if you follow my instructions, it should work fine.

BTW, it runs much better off the hard disk, so you will lost about 700 megs or so of space, no bigggie for most.

here is the file... http://www.a-p-group.com/ashman/file/cdindex.zip

Mine has the cool speedometer on the face also, I bought mine from Ebay for 20 USD. , though I had to copy all the files to my hard disk, and ran a file named 124avi2.html.

It looked so real that I didn't know it was copy when I got it.

It is very easy to make fake copies look like real.

LOL, when I was in Far East earlier, I saw Windows XP CD for the equivalent of $1.

The problem is in the main index file. It checks to see if you have shockwave and acrobat reader.

This check happens everytime. Well if you are like me and know you have the right software, then the best method is to bypass the check.

I copied mine to the hard disk, because I wanted both cd's always readily available to me. And I wanted to bypass the checks, which would either work right, or lock up the computer.

I have a feeling it is a windows xp issue with the check for the programs, because I have run them on windows 98 with no problems.

If you use my instructions and copy my files to your hard disk, you will have it working great, and much simipler to get to the info you need.

MBambz: to answer your original question, it's called piracy which is a glamorous name for theft ! I have always been a believer in the "whoever is without sin let him cast the first stone" theory; and I have copies of music and video I have made, but it isn't right and we all know it.

Exclamation

Folks, take this for what it is worth.

According to Federal Copyright laws, for each occurrence of copyright violation both the giver and getter, also known as the seller and buyer are liable for $100,000 in fines. Period.

While your deals are of no issue to me I want you to understand that to which you are exposing yourselves.

I strongly suggest that this thread be deleted to erase several confessions admitting copyright violations. And furthermore if your gonna do it don’t post it on a public forum.

So you ride yourselves over the fields
And you make all your animal deals
And your wise men don’t know how it feels
To be thick as a...

(for you cap’n)

Whenever I get to feel this way
Have to find new words to say,
I think about the bad old days
We used to know!

For you Tracy with no relevant meaning to this thread, but this does:

Cuts the final strand
You'd better lick two fingers clean
Before you shake His hand

Thinking outside the [CD] box ...a little

Another common topic I see on this site is:

"When are we gonna be able to purchase CD's/manuals for my [insert newer model here] MB ??????"

FWIW - If everybody goes out and buys illegal copies, then what is the incentive for MB to develop new versions.

Me - I just buy the actual books.

1. The text seems to sink into my thick skull better
2. I don't have space for a computer in my garage and I'm too cheap to buy a laptop.
3. I spend enough time in front of a flippin computer at work that searching thru a CD manual is the last thing I wanna do.
