00' 320CLK Transmission Harness
Hello out there!
I have a 2000 320CLK, the transmission harness seal leaked and the fluid found its way up to the computer and was causing slipping and all kinds of error messages on the dash display. The mechanic I got replaced the harness and seal and removed the module and blew air in it to dry it out. It runs great now no more slipping or strange error messages. The issue is, he said that I should get rid of it because the computer will go pretty soon because of the fluid that got in there, that this was only a "band-aid" fix...this doesn't sound right to me. Its no longer acting up nor is it intermittent. Aren't shorted out parts either fried or not? Thanks |

He should have spray computer out with CRC electical cleaner, then blowed it out and air dried for a day.this is common practise and is relieable

320CLK Trans Harness
Hi oldsinner...great name!
He did blow it out for a day and did use some kind of solvent. So what your saying what I was thinking...that this is a reliable fix? Thanks for your response |

It is hardly worth getting rid of a car over a few hundred dollar ( or less ) used trans computer.
Have look at car-part.com this is a USA wide ( and part of Canada ) online salvage yard inventory search. Oil is an insulator but fine metal particles in the oil can conduct electricity. This stray voltage can alter very low voltage signals causing odd behavior. Remove the stray signals and it should keep working. |
