1994 Mercedes E320 wagon trunk lift handle broke

My 1994 Mercedes Benz e320 wagon trunk lift handle broke on the side. I called the dealer and gave him the necessary information. He told me he has the part in stock but won't give me the part number. I tried, in vain, researched the trunk lift handle and the handle comes in different kinds. My wagon is different in size and styles in compare to sedan, coupe, etc. I just need the part number that is exact fit for my wagon and where to get it. Also, the handle has two lights sockets inside or openings that is specific. The handle is quite expensive. In fact, the dealer told me the cost is $104. Surely, there must be somewhere a lot less expensive and having the exact part number would be appreciated. Thanks for reading.

124 740 02 93

According to EPC the part number you need is 124 740 02 93. Considering that MSRP for some colors is well over $200, $100 is a pretty damn good deal.

See attached.

Hope this is of help.

Thanks for responding. However, I discovered the right and correct part I found on Ebay Enclosed is the two pictures attachments that described the exact color and length of the handle. Funny though, the part number, according to the seller, is MERCEDES 300TE TRUNK HATCH HANDLE METALLIC GREEN, 1247400093. It also says it is from a 1992 Mercedes. Guys, I know that this particular part is the right one for my 1994 Mercedes E320 Wagon, but the part number is wrong or am I missing something here? Any comments

You are missing nothing - that is the correct part number of the smaller/shorter/upper of the two handles.

Going by the price you had originally quoted, I had assumed that you were talking about the larger/longer/lower of the two handles.

My apologies!

How do I remove the inside upholstery off the hatch door of my e32o wagon?

I got the new replacement lift trunk handle. I tried to replace the old one, only to see two bolts on each end still fastened. It appears that the bolts were tightened inside the hatch upholestery. I tried to take the panel apart to look at it, but I can't seem to get the inside upholstery off the hatch. It appears to be fastened to the panel with plastic plugs along the sides of the panel, but I don't know how to remove those plugs. I need to get access so I can remove the two bolts that holding the lift handle.Any ideas out there?

If its like the pop out door card type plugs you need a flat and stiff tool to pull the door panel right where they clamp into the metal. Harborfreight have a 5 dollar kit for this.

Thanks for the tip!! I will check out the tool. By the way, would I have to get new plugs in place of the old ones, because sometimes the plugs break and needs to be replace as well?

lift handle installed

I was abled to pried open the panel using a very flat putty knife, carefully not to exert much force going upward so to not break the plugs. Two plugs on each side of the panel were loosening giving me room to see the opening inside where the bolt from the handler was located. I had to remove the relay on the left side to give myself enough to use a 8mm open end socket to loosen the nut from the bolt. Got it done and repeat the whole process backwards with the new replacement trunk/lift handler. Job is done.
