W201 Door Water Leak
Hello,
I've noticed that after washing my 190E 2.3-16 (and drying), there will be some water exiting from the bottoms of the doors on each side, and running down the side skirts. I've popped off the rear door panels and noticed some drain holes at the bottom of each door. The question is, what is a "normal" amount of water to be running down the inside of the door, and out the drain holes? Is any amount normal or as designed, or do I have a seal leak somewhere? Thank you! |

There are rubber sweeps on the glass to keep most water out but there isn't a practical way to make a 100 % seal. And you have now found why doors rust at the bottoms.

its very normal - make sure the plastic sheet that are behind the door cards are intact - the original ones are extreme cheap quality - you can do better with 6 mil plastic from home depot/lowes/ace
get some body cavity wax spray and spray it inside the door chassis to prevent water from stalling, the wax makes the water slide off and MB applied lots of the stuff on these cars from the factory. Over time it wears off and flakes - reapply it - its not expensive either and it prevents rusting out.

Wow, ok thanks for the tips. I'm going to make sure those "sweeps" are installed correctly first, and then tackle coating the inside of the door right around the base near the drain holes.
