W123 280TE wont start

Hi.

I have a M110 280 TE that wont start after i havent started it for three weeks.

I know for a fact that the warm up regulator doesnt work, but i cant figure out if that is why it doesnt start now.

Before it would fire right up, and as long as i didnt touch the gas pedal for 30 seconds, everything would be fine (then it was warm).

It runs perfectly without misfires etc.

Ofcourse i could buy a "new" WUR, but there are none available in Denmark unless i want to pay alot of money.
Seeing as the car is only used on a summer cruise once in a while, and im short on cash, i wanted to know if i can block off the WUR??

Or maybe the fault is somewhere else? If i spray some brake cleaner in the intake, it fires right up but i cant keep it running.

How are the plugs and rotor? The M110 is very temperamental.

LL:

Cold starting of an engine equipped with K-Jetronic is dependent on three things: 1) fuel pressure, 2) the cold start injector, and 3) the control pressure [which is governed by the control pressure regulator, usually called the warm up regulator (WUR)].

If the key is cycled OFF/ON a few times, you should here a change in the tone of the fuel pump as pressure is built up. Yes?

The cold start injector sprays fuel into the intake manifold when the temperature is below approx. 20C and the starter motor is engaged. The spray continues for a second or so after the starter is released.

If the WUR is stuck closed, or the fuel lines to and from the WUR are clogged, the control pressure will be unusually high, which will cause a lean condition, and difficult running after start. If the WUR and the lines are open, the default condition of the control pressure is low, which will cause a rich condition (good for starting).
Blocking the WUR will cause a very lean condition.

Thanks Frank - it helps with a better understanding of how the system works.

I will look through the points you mentioned!
