Blower access S420 help!

I've seen
videos, and looked at posts. Every one says this is easy. Nothing I have seen looks like what I see. I see, and have removed 2 bolts, 9mm I think. No screws Phillips or torq, just 2 pieces of black plastic that I have pulled, pried, etc and cannot remove without breaking them. I know the blower is under them but how do I get them off? 1998 S420. Love my car by the way!
Update: discovered the secret I think. In the cabin is the recirculating filter. Got it open, filter is clean. Apparently the blower motor is reached from above in the engine compartment and requires removal of the wiper manifold and other misc stuff. If I am on the wrong track please advise. Wish I knew how to make a tutorial showing how this is done. It's quite different from anything I have seen anywhere .
