When I bought my car last summer the sunroof was seized and I had a body shop replace the cable and since the roof switch has not been working properly (probably was before too). The down and up direction do the same thing and the close direction does not stop at the close position and the sunroof pops up. I have tried to figure out the calibration dial
at the rear by the motor but I can't find a setting that works. Does anyone know the wiring or dial setting that will fix my problem?

TIA

This is a very fine adjustment. Look in the "model year 1986 124 intro into service" book and it will tell you in great detail how to set up the power sliding roof.

WHEN THE SUNROOF IS IN THE "POP-UP" POSITION(JUST THE REAR OPEN) THE ALIGNMENT CALIBRATION CAN BE DONE. THERE IS A PLACE ON THE GEARING OF THE SUNROOF MOTOR ASSEMBLY TO INSERT AN ALIGNMENT PIN. THE WHITE KNOB ON THE GEARING MUST BE TURNED UNTIL THE ALIGNMENT PIN CAN GO COMPLETELY THRU GEARING. THIS WILL GET YOU CLOSE!

Well thanks for the help but I am still having problems. I took me a while to find the alignment hole (until I removed the screw that was in it). I did align the inner gear while the rear part of the roof was up and the switch control did change but the forward switch movement still makes the roof open, all other switch directions seem to work except that the roof still pops up if i use the up direction from an open position. Don't know if that's right or not. Should the motor cut out when the limits are reached ? I still hear the motor trying to move the panel when its all the way up or back. I wonder if there is a possibility if the wiring at the switch is massed up, since they had to remove the headliner.

Hello Benzmac

I have a supplementary question to the problem with the 300 TE sunroof.

I have the same problem on my 88´ 300 E. You are referring to a book. Do you
know where to order this book on the internet or in europe?

Regards

I am having similar problems with my 90 300E. Could someone give detailed instructions on how to do this adjustment? Or perhaps give a reference to where such instructions could be foune?
