My 300e [1986] began making a high pitched whine and minutes later I noticed the oil, fuel, and temp gauges were all to far left. [the fuel economy gauge still works though].
The whine is there unless I turn either the right or left turn signals on. I checked the fuse and don't think it is that. What on earth is going on? thanks very much. Katie |

Have the alternator checked. It does sound like a fuse has blown though. The alt. can whine if it is faulty. The econ gauge is acutally a vaccuum gauge connected direclty to the engine that's why it didn't die.(It's not electrically activated.

It's just the fuse. When it goes, something in the dash whines- maybe the key buzzer.
