Link to Offsite Article: M104 Idle
I can not locate a recently posted link to an article about cleaning an idle control valve, or EGR valve (or something similar). I believe that it was a Steve Brotherman article and had several neat pictures of gunked up passages that interfered with smooth idle. If anyone recalls the link, I would be appreciative.

It's at the top of this page, under D.I.Y..
The article by Steve B. is called Evaluating Engine Diagnostic Controls.

I'm not sure that DIY article is the one your are looking for, but for anyone who wishes to see the other articles I have wrote, five of them are at our site: http://www.continentalimports.com/ser_art.html
The most recent is on MB alignment and hasn't been put to our site yet. It is in this months "Import Car" and can be viewed here: http://www.import-car.com/iced2.htm

Excellent articles. I read every one, although your knowledge of electronics is waaaaay above my head.
6'4" and 280 lbs? You're a big guy. If I saw you walking toward me, I might cross the street in fear that you'd beat me up. (just kidding).
