Hi,
I am going to look at an '83 240D, 4-speed with 213K this weekend. I am new to Mercedes-Benz and would like to know what I should watch out for on this year and make. I know quite a bit about cars, but next to nothing about diesel motors - how do I distinguish a good diesel from a bad one? The owner will give me the name and number of her mechanic, and I will have mine look at the car as well (only problem with that is he is a Saab specialist-but very honest and trustworthy). Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Greg P.S. great site! |

Have the compression tested!!!! Its the most important element of longivety & the most "expensive to repair". Make sure the previous owners have changed the oil often!
