New Fuel Filter/copper crush washers installed, do I need to bleed the system?

OK, the fuel pump/NEW fuel filter assembly complete with new copper crush washers is reinstalled in the 1991 560SEL. Since the new fuel filter is empty, do I need to bleed the fuel system? If so, what is the proper procedure? Or, do I simply fire the mother up and check for leaks?

It will probably take 5-10 seconds of cranking to start the engine. The other alternative is to cycle the ignition switch to the ON position 5-10 times. Each time the ignition is turned on the fuel pumps energize for about one second, then they energize again during cranking.

OK, turned the ignition switch to the on position five times with the main ignition wire removed so that oil pressure could come up without starting. I figured as long as the car had been sitting, bringing up oil pressure prior to a live start would be important. I reattached the ignition cut-out wire and she started right up! Let it run for a few minutes then revved it up and got out and checked for fuel leaks by the fuel pump/filter assembly NO LEAKS WERE OBSERVED, SUCCESS!!!!!

For now, I'm going to start on the brake job because that is going to take some time to complete while I wait on the proper hoses to arrive for the fuel filter/pump assembly.
