95 S320 blower motor
95 S320 blower motor
Hi, After reading posts regarding HVAC issues on W140's I troubleshot my elusive blower problem. First, my fan control thumb switch wasn't changing the fan speed. Additionally, after five or ten minutes the blower would cut off completely. Finally the blower stopped working all together. Based on the threads I read my first step was to replace the relay on top of the Blower motor. It didn't change the problem so I put the old relay back in and the problem persisted. Next, I jiggled the two wires (blue and Red) going into the blower and it started working but it cuts out after 5 or 10 minutes. I looks like the blue and red wires attach to the motor brushes and at the touch they were very hot. I jiggled the blue and red wires each time the blower quit and it would turn on and provide cabin AC for a short while then turn off again. I'm concluding that the blower motor is the culprit but before I replace it I want to ask if I am doing the right thing and is there any other ideas out there as to what I need to do. Thanks, Joe |
