Unknown Box? Need Help Identifying
So I am parting my 1989 Mercedes-Benz W124/300E out, and I ran across this box under the back seat and have no clue what it is, what it does, nor what it is for?
Can someone please help me identify its use nd what something like this is actually worth? It's roughly 10"x6"x2" and weighs 5lbs 14oz. It has 3 wires coming from it. I have included pictures. |

Google the part number. Chances are it's for a phone. I had something similar under my back seat

I tried to google it and came back with nothing. I don't even know what it's worth. would love to sell it though, I'm sure someone wants to put a classic phone in their Mercedes-Benz

I can't open the pic right now but if it's a C-TEL interface it's worthless. Analog went out a long time ago

^^^^What he said!
Yeah, it's for a phone and trust me, nobody wants a 'wired' phone in their Benz. I removed mine quite a while ago but recently the ghost of my olld phone started making noises and had to trace down the 'heart' of it and RIP IT OUT!!!!! My thread on this can be found HERE if interested

The FCC number means it is a transmitter. The words OKI ( brand ) Telecom mean it is a phone. It looks unplugged , there is a threaded coax for the antenna , "centronics" type connector for data transmission and a Molex type connector for power.

Yes, no one wants a phone in their car, especially since it's illegal to talk on one while driving.....even the lowest end cars out have bluetooth capability.

OKI was a company that manufactured analogue cellular phone handsets and equipment.
That setup cost a small fortune when first introduced. First handheld NEC cell phones were $5,000.00 each when first introduced in the early nineties - in my country. DX266 equipped desktops ran around $4,500.00 each back in the nineties plus monitor. - in my country. My laptop cost $5,400.00. In car telephone pieces are now worth zero as opposed to old Motorola Bricks which are now becoming collectors items. |
