'06 E350 - OBD Code P2570

Hey all,

My E350 has been lighting the CEL intermittently. It will sometimes stay on for 2 or 3 days and then go out for 1 to 2 days and then come on again. My OBD scan tool shows a stored code of P2570 as well as a pending code of P2570. This code translates to "Direct Ozone Reduction Catalyst Temperature Sensor Circuit High".

Can anyone tell me what this actually means, what components might be involved and how to fix it?

Thanks,

Basically,

"A catalytic motor vehicle radiator for cooling a coolant flowing through it has a catalytically acting surface for converting a pollutant into an environmentally compatible material, a temperature sensor for sensing a coolant temperature, and an attachment point for attaching the temperature sensor. The temperature sensor has an attachment for attaching the temperature sensor to the attachment point of the catalytic motor vehicle radiator, and includes an electrical identification unit for identifying the catalytic motor vehicle radiator. The attachment interacts with an attachment point of the catalytic motor vehicle radiator in such a way that, if the temperature sensor is removed from the catalytic motor vehicle radiator, the temperature sensor is destroyed."

In English,,, there's a temperature sensor on the radiator that sense the temperature of the radiator. It's used in SULEV (Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicles) Need to replace the radiator as the patent (quoted above) states that to be tamper-proof, it is destroyed if removed ( which also destroys the radiator I would imagine).

Google "Direct Ozone Reduction Catalyst Temperature Sensor Circuit High" the bimmerfest forum has some useful info

For sensors / trouble codes in general, "circuit high" means the temp signal _voltage_ is out of range on the high side or constantly high. ( what condition causes this depends on the sophistication of the ECM )

You need a wiring diagram to probe the sensor to see if the voltage is high.
