Question Driver Side Mirror C-240 2003

My 2003 C-240 have a damaged driver side external glass mirror and I want to get it repaired. The glass mirror is completely faded.
I bought a new flat mirror glass to replace the damaged one.
The manufacturer sell it and ship with three pieces of double side adhesive tape to probably glue the new glass on top of the old mirror.
I tried to open the edges of the old plastic that surround the original glass mirror but the plastic is hard and give me no chance to remove the old glass to install the new one.
I will appreciate your help to get my new glass mirror installed.
Thanks

I don't know this car specifically but it probably has a mirror dimming feature so the mirror and plastic are likely sealed together.( My 97 C280 has this but that is a different body style than yours. ) I've seen some posts here where the fluid starts to leak out.

Typically the fix it mirror gets stuck over the old one.

i'm not seeing the point much in simply taping the new glass onto the old mirror. it may
only take a few more minutes to remove the old glass. have you checked youtube? there
should be tips on how to remove the mirror housing. on my w210, there is a wire latch
which secures the mirror to the motor flange. many instances folks will also use dbl
stick tape as well.

There are a wide range of replacements available. The OEM glass is probably $300. Then there are the $12 - $20 glass pieces available on eBay that might be what you have. Those are just meant to glue on top of the old one.
