Windshield wipers stop pointing up?

I am new to the forums having just purchased a 1967 Mercedes 250S that is in good condition, but needs a little tlc. My question...the windshield wiper motor works when I turn it on, but when I turn it off, the wipers stop pointing upward enstead of horizontally at the bottom of the windshield. I can't imagine that is the way Mercedes made them, so I am wondering what could cause this to happen, and how to correct? Thank you in advance.

Usually this is cause by the arm on the wiper motor being 180" out of rotation. usually wiper motors have a shaft with 2 flats on each side, unbolt the arm and rotate on the linkage ( while moving the wiper arms ) then reattach.

Some wiper motors have an adjustment for parking but I have no idea if this is what you have or not. ( and even at that it is a small range unless the wiper motor was assembled upside down / 180 out ,)

Pitch this to the vintage section of this form as well.

Just reporting back after working on the windshield wipers, and you were absolutely right...the arm was 180 degrees off. I reversed that and this problem is crossed off the list. Thank you for your excellent help!!

Thank you for posting what you found. There are a lot of threads out there without a final " Here is what I found and fixed. "
