190E 2.6 Starting Problem

When I try to start the car the first time each morning, it turns over slowly and will not start. The engine is turning over but it won't fire up. Using a booster pack gets it started. For the rest of the day, it starts fine with no booster or jumpers. Obviously, the electrical energy in the starter system isn't sufficient after sitting overnight . Subsequent starts throughout the day are no problem. I have a new battery and new cables (there was corrosion between the strands of wire in both positive cables, which I thought and hoped was the problem).

Any advice or sharing of experience with this situation would be appreciated. The car is a 1991 190E 2.6

Is the starter original to the car and have you ever had its starting capability tested?

Check the alternator output voltage. Should be between 13.5 and 14vdc. Id check the voltage regulator before pulling the alternator too.

Thanks for the suggestions. Both starting and charging systems are working normally. It turned out to be caused by infrequent use. Plus, when I did drive it, it was usually only for running errands with several start/stops each time with not a lot of miles driven. After a full charge and driving it more, it is fine.

Thanks again.
