Need Help - Bright headlights don't work

I have a 1990 560 sec, my bright headlights don't work at all, there is a fuse for the left bright headlight and one for the right bright headlight I have checked both of the fuses and they are OK, but neither one of these fuses are getting power, if I touch a hot wire to either one of these fuses both bright headlights come on, I assume there is possibly a rely a problem? But I don't know which relay it would be or how to check it, the paper in the fuse box tells you what fuse does what but there is no explanation of what any of the relays do, does anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this problem or what the problem may be, thank you for your help.

Sounds like you are writing about the high beams?

Had the same prob with my 95 wagon two years ago...forward to last week, same situation on my e420.

Problem resolved both times by removing the cap around the turn signal stalk on the left side of the steering wheel and then saturating the contacts (they are visible) with C R C electric spray...found it at Walmart auto section.

Just spray the heck out of it whilst repeatedly moving the stalk up and down and left to right. Do that several times and when the surface oxidation on the contacts wears off you will get your high beams back!

For safety's sake I wait until the spray evaporates, and it does so rather quickly, before turning on the ignition.

Cheers!

Examine the sockets. They tend to carbonize, especially if you use high output bulbs
