Partial strip - Is it possible? W201 / M102 wiring loom question

G'day Folks,

Today I found a possible short circuit on my WOT sensor wiring.

This could be the source of my irritating CIS troubles I've been having.

Has anyone here ever removed the loom that goes to the ECU before?

The engine side of most of the sensors and transducers is straightforward to get undone but then that loom is attached to another which goes off into the cabin. I assume the road speed sensor wire goes with it. Does anyone know if just the ECU cable / loom can be detached without stripping out all of the electrics?

(Can nay find ref in FSM)

I'm getting myself confused.

The specification in the FSM is as follows

The specification is that the resistance has to be lower than 1 ohm.

It is.

It is 0.4 ohms.

So it is OK.

However, even though I thought it wasn't there is the evidence of the blackened wires that I have found.

Does this look like burning?
