I've been experimenting ( but not inhaling solder fumes ) with a 97 E430 dash powered up on a bench and not attached to a car.
By pushing things around I'm coming up with some dash alarms that I don't think were native to the E430 and am wondering if the processor / programming is common to other cars. The dash is made by VDO as are most ( all ? ) MB dashes of that era. The dash alarms are in the LCD display below the speedo.
With the stock setup, the display is yellow. I can get it to display German, french , maybe spanish. Some alarms are in yellow , red or green.
The biggest question is I'm getting it to display a tire pressure alarm and I was unaware that TPMS was an option for 97. Was TPMS or pressure inference through rolling radius of the tire ( through the ABS sensors ) an actual option?
Also getting adaptive damping with a picture of a shock and " TEMPO (30) LIMIT" where the 30 is in a circle.
Any ideas as to what countries used the Tempo" warning and how it is engaged?
