ring end gap
Any body out have the specs for the ring end gap for a 91 560 m117 engine? and has anyone ever sleeved those blocks? thanks

Rule of thumb is .004in per inch of bore. Worked fine for many engines over the years.Maybe some one will come up with the MB spec if not and i was doing the job i would use that. Don

ring end gap
Thanks Don,
That's what I was afraid of. .014in seems a little tight, but I can see that as the low end and .018in being the limit. with the gap presently at 0.053in in the worst cylinder at the top, I believe my engine maybe toast. Allen |

Are the pistons out? If so, irrespective of ring wear, and the attendant increase in gap, bore diameter is decisive.

Are you checking with a new ring or a worn one,that can make a considerable difference!
