my 420sel suddely loses power

it has 115k,good shape, just got it.sudden loss of power.first time i coasted to a stop and it started right up ran fine.second time loss of power,i banged on fuel pump relay and it started and continued to run till i got home.it starts up fine runs fine so i dont think fuel pump, but relay may be bad.does this make sense, especially as i banged on relay and car resumed working.ive ordered a relay, but old one is tight in there, any hints on getting it out

yes they can stick when they get old.I would replace it,buy two and carry a spare, cause EURO parts makes them now.
