'99 S500- wheel?'s

Does anyone have pictures of a S with after market wheels. I have considered putting on 18's on the back and 17's on the front. Any suggestions or warnings?

Picture With After-market Wheels

I believe that if you go to www.tirerack.com there is a feature which shows what a given car looks like with wheels selected from their stock. By the way, I received great service and a good price from these folks.

The suspension design in the W140 series is so well laid out and forgiving that you should not notice any difference in ride comfort at any speed between the standard 16" and an aftermarket 18".

The big problem is the condition of the roads in your area.

Here, where the roads rival post-war bombed fields, most CL-class owners that had the 18" wheels fitted standard from the factory had to change to the sedan's regular 16"s.

An 18" wheel will not forgive the slightest pothole, ruining your tire forever.

Thanks MBD. I currently have Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 235/50ZR18 tires. Those on the picture were PZero Rosso installed by PO, but not much thread left on them.
