sunroof cable 85 300D

Guys please tell me where and how to disconnect the cable. I got the headliner out no problem 6 clips in front and out through the top. I located motor in trunk, there is 2 metal rods attached. The gear was PACKED full of rust to the point the teeth warped. Paid $400 with 171,000 miles. Super strong, quick (for a diesel) blows away Power strokes, Cummings from a dead stop on take off. It has it issues, but nothing to do with motor or trans or rear end.sun roof seals, it rained in Florida the other day and had a gallon of water in the headliner above the back seat. How do I take this apart? Mercedes source doesn't show removal for a 85 300D. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the Peach Parts Forum. Just above your post in one of the darker blue sections is one labled, "search this thread" Click on that and a line will drop where you can enter your request. This Forum is quite old and 1000's of posts have been made and are just waiting for you to type in something like, " how do I replace sunroof cable" and you usually will get enough posts to keep you reading for a while on the subject. Try it! You might even get more and different answers if you did it on the "Diesel" part of the Forum, though your problem is not diesel related.

Nothing like ever present help advice in the time of trouble. Thank you for your most generous input, I would still be baffled if it wasn't for your professional dialect.
