1996 Sl600 R129 wont start HELP!!!

Hi I have a 1996 SL600 and when I went to start my car last night the rear view mirror red and green lights were alternating flashing when I turned the ignition key. And for some reason the car isnt starting, its like the immobiliser is active. I have never seen these lights work before in the 4 years ive owned it. My power locks havent worked since ive owned the car either.

- I have put brand new batterys in both the key fobs and still doesn't work.

- The car battery is fully charged I charged it again to make sure.

- I've checked all the fuses in on the drivers side fuse box under the hood and passenger side fuse box in the rear trunk.

- I've disconnecting the car battery and turning headlights on till theres no power and leaving the battery off for a few minutes.

- Ive tried syncing the fobs

I just had my car scanned and it came up with 2 faults:

P1570 - Start attempted locked DAS (Intermittent No-Start Immobiliser Module)

P1588 Unknown

So im thinking there may be a ECU issue?

Any help to get my car running again would be appreciated!

Thanks!!!

The car thinks that its locked and isn't allowing itself to be "stolen". You really need to hook up to an SDS before you can try to diagnose it. Otherwise throwing parts at it will get real expensive real quick.

The car won't crank or will crank but won't run?

I'm pretty sure that year still had a starter lock out without a DAS X chip in the key that communicated to the ECU.

If the car just won't crank, you should be able to jump the starter solenoid. I'm pretty sure the wire ( Purple ? ) ends up in the passenger side under hood ECU box and is bundled with the main engine harness.

If it's the single-button version, it's entirely possible that the button itself has dislodged from the circuit board (this is what I found/fixed when I cracked my fobs open). Can you see a faint red light when you press it?

To add to that, press and hold the button for 3+ seconds. The light won't turn on if you just give it a quick press. Holding the button down forces the remote into battery test mode.

Another test is to use a video camera point at the IR transmitter, pressing the button and seeing if there is a flash. Most vid cameras are sensitive to IR light, a test of the camera would be to shine a TV remote at the camera and see if you can see flashing.
