Heater A/C fan inop in certain temp range

I have a 98 SLK. When the exterior temp is between 70 and 90 degree F the blower does not operate. While driving you can feel cold air exiting the vents but there is no blower action. I was thinking maybe a low refrigerent charge but outside of this temp range the system works just fine with plenty of cooling power. Any one see this kind of behavior?

It sounds like a resistor or sensor problem. I'd bet anyone with a tester could pinpoint the problem quickly.
