1999 slk 230K electrical question

Went over pothole last night, car run for a while and run out of battery as I got home, it wouldn't start again.Dead battery. Charged the battery today and car starts, dash battery light is on. Any ideas what could have become loose.
Thanks.

Look closely at negative battery cable, where it connects to battery and where it connect to frame. You may even want to disconnect it and inspect.

Thanks for your reply, now that the rain stopped I lifted the car and the alternator is busted, a chunk missing! At least I know what to fix.

Check out the below tech article from our site. If you're going to be replacing the alternator; this should greatly help you and save you some $$. Best of luck!
