What is the bolt sleeve rubber/metal washer part name and part number?
When I removed the 12 bolts on the valve cover to put in a new replacement valve cover gasket, I noticed three of the metal sleeves in which the bolts goes inside have missing rubber/metal washers. The rubber/metal washer together/combined is in one piece. Those rubber/metal washers goes on the outside of the bolt sleeves, not outside the bolts. In addition, inside the 6 spark plugs holes, oil is everywhere (spark plugs remained intact and had not removed). The old valve cover gasket and the six seals looks worn and torn. The three coils are fine, just dirty with oil. Spark plug wires are in good shape and, again, dirty with oil. Will clean up the coils, valve cover, and spark plug wires. In addition, I will replace with new spark plugs due to oil around the old spark plugs, just to play it safe as well as clean up the inside the spark plug holes once removing the spark plugs prior to replacing with new spark plugs. Can anyone tell me what is the name and part number of those rubber/metal washers that goes outside the bolt sleeve? I can't seem to find it anywhere and maybe I am using the wrong part name. I need those rubber/metal washers before I continue to replace the valve cover gasket. Any comments/feedback is greatly appreciated.

It is called the metal rubber combo washer, o rings, sealer, etc.
my vehicle is 1994 Mercedes E320 wagon. I came across this ebay website so you have an idea what I am talking about. It is called metal rubber combo washer, o rings, etc. Here is the website:
rubber metal combo washer | eBay The trick is finding the right size that fits outside the bolt sleeve. |

For some unknown reason the underline rubber metal combo ebay website above does go to ebay, but nothing else. Just type rubber metal combo washer on ebay and click enter. That should work to get the list of rubber metal combo washers.

you need 104 016 03 64 x 12. those are the seals for the tubes around the bolts on the valve cover. good luck, chuck.

Hey Chuck, How in the world did you find it? Are you sure that will fit on the metal sleeve or tubes and is it metal/rubber combo washer and correct size on the metal sleeve/tubes? Your quick response is greatly appreciated because if it is the correct part name and part number, I will order the part immediately. Thank you

dmorgan, perhaps you don't realize that Pelican Parts is associated with this website. Click on "Mercedes" at the top of this page, then enter the year, model, etc. of your vehicle to review the available valve cover gaskets and part numbers.

Are grommets (part # 104 016 03 64) fully rubber material or rubber/metal combo?
Fred, thank for the response. I appreciated the advice. I am not sure if the grommets I ordered (Part number 104 016 03 64) is the same part. Are grommets fully rubber or combo of metal/rubber that goes outside of the bolt sleeve as I have on my 1994 Mercedes E320 wagon and not outside of the bolt?

dmorgan, that is the correct part number for the rubber grommet which goes under the head of each spacer sleeve. A new grommet will be somewhat soft and pliable providing a good seal while an old grommet will be hard/brittle and not seal adequately.

The Grommets arrived today, a day earlier than expected. I am a little embarassed about the grommets situation. I was under the impression that the grommets have rubber/metal combo when, in fact, the grommets are all rubber and the metal top part head is part of the overall metal bolt sleeve. I guessed that grommet were so closely tight with the top head that I thought it was all one part like rubber/metal combo grommets. In addition, when removing the old grommet from the bolt sleeve, it was loose and not tight like the new grommets. I apologize for the confusion in that regard. Live and learn.
Now I have all the parts available to me for the valve cover gasket situation. I can't wait to get to work on the Mercedes. I will follow up on the issue as soon as I complete the job.Stay tuned. |
