fuchs 3353 vs 4124 for a 98 210 ?
my 98 e320 has 260000 miles and have used fuchs and mb fluid for changes. from reading it seems that the 3353 may be better suited for the older trans than the 4124. what do you think?

use ATF 134 from Shell, its the lowest cost and works a treat. Infact MB say its back compatible to the original 3401 fluid that was filled at the factory (which I suspect is Allison Transynd).
You can also use ATF+4 in these as the same transmission is also used in the dodge chargers/challengers/jeeps etc. and they take ATF+4 and have a 40K service interval on them. ATF+4 is a bit heavier than the ATF134 when hot and shifts quite nice.

Valvoline has an Import Vehicle ATF that they claim meets the Mercedes 236.10 spec. which is the spec. for your transmission. They also make a Maxlife ATF which says it meets the NAD-1 spec. for this transmission in Chrysler products but it is not clear to me what version went into Chrysler's. Your transmission may have the problematic input/output shaft bushing, and if so, I would feel better using a thicker 236.10 fluid. The bushing was replaced with a roller bearing, I believe some time in '99, and I would be comfortable using the thinner fluids on the modified transmission.

Chrysler fill them with ATF+4 and they work great, even behind the high torque hemi v8 engines. Their shifting program is different tho. You can slightly feel the shift kick in them, in MB you just the rpm needle drop.
