Directional LIghts

I have a quick question about the directional lights on my 1987 190E. When I signal left the indicator light on the dash and the left directional lights blink much faster than usual. Does this mean that I have a directional light going bad or is it a relay problem? If it's the lights is there an easy way to determine which light is going bad?
