How to Get a Broken Expansion Tank Nipple Out of a Hose
Hi there,
I just replaced the coolant expansion tank on my W203 and the nipple from the old one was broken inside the tank hose. I did not want to cut it so I got a thick paper towel and wrapped it aroud the hose, and with a pair of plyers, I started to squeeze just behind the broken piece and worked my way up towards the end of the hose. I did this a few times while rolling the hose to make sure it does not become too flat on the end. After a few tries the broken piece was out like a charm. Good luck if you have to deal with the same issue. |
I thread a lag screw to grip the stub of fitting then pull it out.
Dipping the hose end in boiling water first might make your method even easier. Sixto 98 E320s sedan and wagon |
