How to Get a Broken Expansion Tank Nipple Out of a Hose

Hi there,

I just replaced the coolant expansion tank on my W203 and the nipple from the old one was broken inside the tank hose. I did not want to cut it so I got a thick paper towel and wrapped it aroud the hose, and with a pair of plyers, I started to squeeze just behind the broken piece and worked my way up towards the end of the hose. I did this a few times while rolling the hose to make sure it does not become too flat on the end. After a few tries the broken piece was out like a charm. Good luck if you have to deal with the same issue.

I thread a lag screw to grip the stub of fitting then pull it out.

Dipping the hose end in boiling water first might make your method even easier.
