Dear Friends,
My 1984 300d's rear demist is almost totally inoperative. Only about six to ten of its many wires are heating the glass and clearing the mist. Being a sedan its wires are vertical and sandwiched between two sheets of glass (the estate has horizontal wires stuck to the inside of one sheet of glass). This should mean that it would be very unlikely for the wires to be damaged inside the glass but that their connection to the electricity supply is severed somewhere. Can someone tell me how to find where the connection has failed? Alternatively, is it possible that the wires have been broken inside the two sheets of glass? Thanks in advance, David Rayment. |

If any of the lines work I think you will have to replace the glass to fix the problem.

Damn... thanks for that. I guess I'll have to stick to this never fog stuff!

David, if you're not too fussy about cosmetics, I have seen aftermarket demisters installed - I think they're reasonably priced.

Thanks Nick. I'll check them out. I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to anything like that but I'll check them JIC I can get an unobtrusive one.
Cheers, David Rayment |
