I have co-worker who just had a water pump
and an air pump replaced on her 91 300SEL. This was done at the Mercedes dealership in Raleigh, NC. Could you give me an estimate of the charges that are normal for these replacements? BTW, her bill was $1600.00. She has 110,000 on her immaculate car. I am assuming this needed repair was normal for a car with these miles, correct? Thanks for a wonderful efficient service you provide for MB owners. |

Its easy to that $1600 is a lot of money, I can tell you that the labor for the repairs should have been 6 to 7 hours at whatever rate the shop charged. Dealers offer 1 year warranties for parts & labor. Most independent shops could offer rebuilt "air injection pumps" while Mercedes only offers new ones. That could have saved a few $$$.
