Hi,
I need a W123 speedometer for a 3.46:1 differential setup. I believe some years of the 300D had this differential. Does anyone know the years & speedometer part #'s? Is there a code identified on the speedo's that tells you what ratio differential it mates with?
Also some models/years of W123 used a electronic speedometer. Anyone know the year/model & part #?

I can find some numbers for speedometers in km/h for you if you want 'cos I own at least two types myself (!) but nothing in mph (miles per hour)

The non turbo 300Ds had the 3.46 (or there abouts) final drive ratios and they were available from the beginning to the end of the W123 series - whether all years of this model were officially imported to the US, I know not

Electronic speedometers were used on diesel powered OM617a vehicles fitted with a 722.303 transmission (also used in the W126 300SD) - I understand in the US of A this was a 1985 thing - probably coupled with a 2.88 final drive ratio (but I'm not 100% sure about this)

I understand there were / are some speedometers in the US that were only numbered to a low speed to encourage people to stick to 55mph I guess - there are other higher numbered versions of the same available too

Thanks Stretch, that info helps. I changed the differential in two of my 280TE's to the 3.46 differential, to lower the cruise rpm's.
I also have a spar 717.402 trans that requires the electronic speedo

A 717.402 - rare gearbox - was used for the 107 SL's with a M110 engine
