Help: 1992 300E crank, no start

Hi,
New member here from central Connecticut. Hoping to gain some insight and direction on repairing my W124. I recently acquired the car from a family member. Car is a 1993 300E 3.0L with 120,000 miles. I was given the car not working or running. I was told vehicle had rough idle and almost stalling at times when it last ran. They then messed with air fuel screw and unplugged the air idle control while vehicle was started and running. This caused vehicle to stall out and now vehicle won't start.*

Parts changed:
I've changed the OVP relay and replaced MAS unit with a used, supposedly working unit from Ebay.*

Vehicle will crank over. Fuel up to the fuel distribution block but none at injector and spark plugs are dry. I can get it to fire and start poorly for half a second using starting fluid. Any help or guidance is greatly appreciated, thanks.

When was the fuel filter last replaced? If you have no idea, I would replace it promptly.
