Mileage and replacement of parts
Hi all,
I have travelled a distance of about 126789 Kilometers with my car and it is still a beauty to drive and i dont have any major problems with it. But i would like to know the parts I should be preparing to stock for a car that has done such mileage. This is so that I can prepare the loot to buy these parts before hand. So u guys that have driven ur cars hard with very high mileages please what are the parts you needed to change first (routinely and otherwise) Pls note that I have only changed my shock absorbers, refilled my A/C gas, cd-deck (if dats to be mentioned ). So ia m still relatively a stock player! over to you guys

Radiator, water pump, fan clutch and thermostat. You want to keep that cooling system healthy. What kind of shape are all the rotating parts attached to the front of the engine with bearings in them? Any unusual noises that you can pin down in this area? How bout the belt tensioner assy?
What kind of shape are the brakes/calipers/rotors in?

yeahhhh
Yeah engatwork,
I have just changed the radiator to a brand new behr radiator .The water pump on inspection looks very good with no leaks that i can see. The clutch i think is good .The only thing i have noticed is a slight vibration when i am braking at high speed at the front tyres. Some said i need my wheels to be balanced and aligned properly. I dont know about the rotors and calipers but my brake pads are still thick . So dats all i have done for now

ladomoni,
12X,000 km is very low mileage for these cars. The 230E is not a model we have in the US and I am assuming that it is a four cylinder. If it is not an M103, we have minimal experience with that in the US in the 124 car, it is typically in the 201 car. IMHO it is impossible to predict part failures based on mileage. I believe you will be best served by putting your efforts into proper preventive maintenance such as frequent oil changes, frequent coolant changes and generally keeping an eye on everything. On my car some things seem to break earlier than they do for others and other things seem to go forever that have given others trouble at much earlier mileage. With such a low mileage example, I suggest that you keep wearing out those hood hinges so you can keep an eye on everything. My $0.02, |
