Need help with power seat wiring

I have a 1990 w201 and my car has the weird relay for the head rear power seat. I am trying to by pass this relay apparently they got rid of the relay for most other years/models and mine keeps sticking causing the head rest to move and grind the motor. Anyways I have successfully bypassed the passenger seat by simply wiring the 2 seat switch wires (pink and pink/green) to the same color seat motor wires per the attached diagram. However I am totally missing the mark on the driver side. I don't understand what I am missing if I am doing the same thing. Can anyone shed some light on what they think the issue is or if they know what I should be doing different?
