190E 2.3-16 Disconnected idle air control vacuum line?
Hi folks,
Was wondering if anyone with a 1986 2.3-16 could tell me where this disconnected vacuum line goes (if anywhere)? I think this is one of the idle air control valve vacuum lines and it's got this small tube coming from its side. I was checking for vacuum leaks that might be causing high NOx values when I failed CA smog last week and was surprised to see this open to atmosphere. In the parts catalog I have, it's not clear if this is supposed to be connected somewhere else, and I haven't found the relevant info about vacuum hose connections to the idle air control valve. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide! |

There should be a line from that port to the fuel pressure regulator. IIRC the rubber connector at the fuel reg is formed fit into the reg. 000 078 02 81 dumps fuel into the intake if the fuel reg leaks

That did the trick, thank you @Paulwho!
The hard plastic line coming out of the "top" of the FPR was just hanging loose. Here's a picture of what it looks like connected, in case anyone else finds it useful later. Hooked up the smoke tester to the intake again and voila, no more gigantic vacuum leak! |
