Angry 2012 Mercedes C250 Won't Start

Hi -
I bought my son a used 2012 Mercedes C250 coupe which was a one owner and all service completed at the Mercedes dealer. Yesterday he switched out the orange side marker lights for a set of smoke color ones. He cut his wheels hard to better access the wheel well for lack of better terminology. He completed this on both sides, changing out the markers seemed no big deal.
Once completed maybe an hour later, the car would not start. All lights are coming on in the inside and outside of the car and I could hear the car making the normal inside noises it always does just when you hit the push button start it doesn't try to start itself. I have used both key fobs to no avail. The steering wheel would not move but I gave it a good wiggle and it moved somewhat. I also cannot take the car from park. Any advice..?? We are fairly frustrated at this point.

Thanks -- Cindy

Did you try removing the push button insert and use the smart key itself?

My guess is it was a dead battery. Did you get it started?
