I want to rebuild the front calipers on my E320. I have the seal kit and the calipers on now on the bench. How do I get all 4 pistons out? I used compressed air, which popped out one piston. How do I remove the other 3? Prying doesn't do it.

Put the one back in, place something such as an old brake pad(s) in between the pistons and work them all out a little. The pad(s) are to prevent one piston from coming all the way out releiving all pressure on the other pistons. May have to work them back and forth a few times to get them to loosen up. I'd avoid splitting the caliper if possible, they can leak upon reassembly.

Thanks. I got them all out. Instead of using the old brake pads, I used a block of wood just the right thickness and 100 psi air. Instead of a floating block, I made one big enough to fit in the rotor slot so it would rigidly hold the pistons as each one came out.

For the next guy doing this, I suggest they remove the pads, then use the brake pedal to force out the pistons against the rotor without coming all the way out. They'll come out just far enough to where you can remove the caliper and pry the pistons out.

I got everything back together with one exception. I can't reinstall the dust seals onto the calipers. I just don't have the hand strength to pop them back into place. Anybody know the trick?

Mount the caliper over the disc, no fluid in caliper, use an old pad prying lightly against the rotor to push them on??? maybe or a c clamp to squeeze them on against an old pad???

I gave up on the dust seals and used the old ones. I didn't bark them up during removal. I figure Centric goofed and made the seals a hair too small. They wouldn't even hit the chamfer.

I couldn't use anything flat to force the seals down. They sit below the pistons.
