2005 e320 cdi.....i just realized that i have three 225 55 16 tires and one 225 60 16!
i was going to ride out these tires for the rest of the fall and then spring for a set before winter sets in.
question is do you think any damage would occur if i just pretend like i didn't know?

As long as the ABS or traction control isn't pissed off by the size imbalance, let it ride until you buy your new tires. It isn't a significant size difference.

I would make sure the ones on the back are same size.

If different sizes they will overwork the ring and pinion. I had a friend who fried his diff that way. It got hot and lost its lubricity and smoked the bearings. l I guess if you have awd you might want to just buy the one new tire so they all match.

And use the oddball as a spare?

Yeah, the 60 series will be about an inch greater diameter, so that's quite a bit of difference. Tire chart showed .9" larger which equates to almost 3" greater circumference. I am surprised the ABS doesn't complain about it.

great information guys! i'm trying to run down a correct size set and i found a decent pair of nearly new Continental ContiPro Contact in 225 55 16 today for $75 for both.....

I remember trying to find a spare tire for my kid's 2006 BMW 330xi and the specs said that the tire needed to be with in 1-2% of the rolling diameter of the tire it is replacing.... not an easy task so I would assume that MB has a similar spec?
