Ball joint replacement

I need to replace the upper right ball joint on my 1972 350/450 sl r107. When replacing ball joints can you just replace one or should you replace both upper and lower? Should you do both right and left sides? I understand it is easier to do it all as long as you got it apart but where do you stop?

The only parts that need to be replaced are those that have wear or damaged boots. Replacing parts that are not worn is a personal decision. Use the highest quality parts available when replacing suspension and/or steering components. If 2 out of 3 parts are worn then I'd replace all while it is apart.

Good luck!!!
