99 E320 wagon trans problems
1 Attachment(s)
I was getting ready to stick a new(used/known good) 722.6 in my buddies new(to him) wagon.
It has only 114,xxx miles and is in overall good shape. I’ve heard of the stake coming loose and the nut backing off the output shaft flange, but I had never seen it until today. Re installed it and torqued it down and restaked it, and it drives now. |
Another issue it has is it lopes a little when it's warming up. Seems fairly smooth once warm though. I don't know much about m112's... It also blows a good cloud of oil smoke when cranked initially or after extended idling. Is it common for m112 valve seals to wear out at such a low mileage? I know they're 22 years old and all, but...

motorreviewer.com (which I've never heard of...) states the following:
"M112 E32 3.2l Engine Problems and Reliability 1. High oil consumption. The cause of the severe oil consumption is often the wear of valve stem seals. The next variant is contaminated ventilation of crankcase gases. 2. Oil leaks. The weak point in the M112 is the seal of the oil heat exchanger." |
