w124 wagon rear SLS shock absorber removing

Hi,
I needed to change the rear shock absorbers on my w124 wagon with SLS.
Breaking the connection between the rubber hydraulic line and metal hydraulic was not easy. First i removed the shock absorber and after removal i kept it turning actually twisting the rubber line too until it got disconnected from the metal line. Then i removed the rubber line from the shock absorber. Then i reinstalled the shock absorber and connected the rubber line at the same time on both ends and twisted to reestablish the connection. Is this the correct way or did i missed something? I have realized that non of the nuts are turnable so the rubber line itself need to be twisted. Is there a better way to do it?
thanks
