Help! 96 C280 Carboned EGR Port

The EGR Port is plug on the 96 C280.

I have been referred to the article by the forum that generaly details using a speedometer cable to clean out the port from the egr valve side.

Disconnecting the tube from the maninfold side appears to be very labor intensive.

I need to get an idea about the length on cable to use and should I be concerned about any metal flaking from the procedure and the metal flakes being drawn into the intake manifold.

Let me verify that the outer shield of the speedometer cable should be used as the routing agent.

Is it possible to use Gumout to try to melt the plug or would this present other problems.

Thanks
