W123 Door Lock Cylinder Dust Seal

There is a sealing ring around the W123 door lock cylinder. This seal is normally invisible - in its pocket within the chrome plated metal door handle. This seal is a dust seal, but gets wet and disintegrates over time.

In the several W123 front door handles I've rebuilt, that sealing ring was broken up into bits and in one case its remnants clogged the lock cylinder making it inop.

It looks like this seal was originally made from either a felt or fiber or some other soft and semi-durable material.

Has anyone found a replacement to that seal? I used a rubber oring on reassembly, but it's not a prefect solution.
